I ended up flying to Oregon for my son’s surgery after all, there were complications and there was no way i would NOT be here. So, I am writing from the beautiful high desert in Bend, Oregon.
I am amused with my mindset. Though I am, for the most part, eating well I have fallen back on chocolate for comfort. This amuses me because I am NOT a chocolate craving/eating person. I read somewhere that chocolate is actually good for your mood. However, I don’t think the Snickers and Heath bar I inhaled yesterday is what they had in mind.

I have heard exercise is supposed to improve your mood. I was hoping I’d hit the gym, get on the treadmill and be all happy like freakin’ Snow White; doves landing on my finger, Bambi and Thumper running along side of me and little sparrows tying bows in my hair. I got squat. Where are the endorphins?

I have discovered that what motivates me on the treadmill is slowly changing… It’s no longer for a hot, rockin’ bod (ya, like that’d happen anyway) or cute clothes (that aren’t designed for old ladies, made of polyester, and only found in my size in mail order catalogs), but for a whole new realm of opportunities that I had written off as “not possible”…

Let me start by saying that I have had the worst knees known to mankind for the past 5 years. They will (every few months) pop out of joint and drop me to the floor, make clicking and popping noises off and on and ache with any substantial time spent on my feet. So it shouldn’t surprise me I am having a knee problem, right?

I’ve been blessed with one of those “shelf butts”. The kind the queen of England could serve high tea from. Not only could her majesty balance her teapot, creamer and sugar bowl on my arse, but she could quite easily serve crumpets and finger sandwiches! Yes indeedy, I have a “shelf butt” that could accommodate the greatest of banquets… But not for long!!!!
