I ended up flying to Oregon for my son’s surgery after all, there were complications and there was no way i would NOT be here. So, I am writing from the beautiful high desert in Bend, Oregon.
I am amused with my mindset. Though I am, for the most part, eating well I have fallen back on chocolate for comfort. This amuses me because I am NOT a chocolate craving/eating person. I read somewhere that chocolate is actually good for your mood. However, I don’t think the Snickers and Heath bar I inhaled yesterday is what they had in mind.

I have heard exercise is supposed to improve your mood. I was hoping I’d hit the gym, get on the treadmill and be all happy like freakin’ Snow White; doves landing on my finger, Bambi and Thumper running along side of me and little sparrows tying bows in my hair. I got squat. Where are the endorphins?

KAPOW! I kicked it up a notch, again, on the treadmill today. I went back to 40 minutes, all at 3 MPH… however, today I did 2 sets of 10 minute intervals GOING UP HILL at 4.0! “Holy heart failure Batman!” (yes, he really said this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHjRwCu6yBY ) and no, no one actually had to perform CPR…

Fact: Breathing is definitely not optional. My head cold is traveling to my chest. Hope it’s having a fun trip, it’s certainly not what I had in mind. So, since I’m home with handfuls of tissues let’s talk calories again…

I got up this morning, totally psyched to have my first weekly weigh in! I pee’d (every ounce counts you know) took off my slippers, balanced the beautiful, gleaming scale to 0.0 and carefully balanced myself in the very center. WHAT THE HELL?!!!

I did 40 minutes on the treadmill. I didn’t fall, I didn’t tip over (even when peeking at the tv screen) and I didn’t give up early… though I really, REALLY wanted to at 30 minutes. All in all a very sweet workout! But then, I went marathon shopping with a girlfriend…

Cripes! I do have a blister on my left foot. about the size of a large Lima bean. I hate Lima beans.
It is just below my big and second toe. Cripes! I wore moleskin all day yesterday and let it “breathe” last night. It is not as tender this morning but still hurts. The blister is not the only thing that hurts…
