Fact:  Breathing is definitely not optional.  My head cold is traveling to my chest.  Hope it’s having a fun trip, it’s certainly not what I had in mind.  So, since I’m home with handfuls of tissues let’s talk calories again…

No gym for me today.  I am “aww pwugged up”.   Fever, chills, sore throat and the inevitable cotton mouth from lack of air flow through the nasal passages.

Let me start by saying that I have had the worst knees known to mankind for the past 5 years.  They will (every few months) pop out of joint and drop me to the floor, make clicking and popping noises off and on and ache with any substantial time spent on my feet.  So it shouldn’t surprise me I  am having a knee problem, right?

After yesterday’s discovery that my heart rate is lower with exertion I was sure to monitor it frequently today (with a big cheesy grin that had everyone in the gym wondering what in the world I was so happy about).

Same as before… you know;   push the little flashing heart thingy on the treadmill’s dashboard, grab the sensor handles,  find out what your pulse is.  I had been walking at 3.0 MPH for about 15 minutes, my heart rate had been stellar for several readings and then it said I was DEAD!  What a buzz kill!!!

I got up this morning, totally psyched to have my first weekly weigh in!  I pee’d (every ounce counts you know) took off my slippers, balanced the beautiful, gleaming scale to 0.0 and carefully balanced myself in the very center.  WHAT THE HELL?!!!

I’ve been blessed with one of those “shelf butts”.  The kind the queen of England could serve high tea from.  Not only could her majesty balance her teapot, creamer and sugar bowl on my arse, but she could quite easily serve crumpets and finger sandwiches!  Yes indeedy, I have a “shelf  butt” that could accommodate the greatest of banquets…  But not for long!!!!

I did 40 minutes on the treadmill.  I didn’t fall, I didn’t tip over (even when peeking at the tv screen) and I didn’t give up early… though I really, REALLY wanted to at 30 minutes.  All in all a very sweet workout!  But then, I went marathon shopping with a girlfriend…
